GDPR and IEC 17020 Data Protection
What are personal data?
Personal data refers to any information that can be traced back to your identity. This includes, for example, your name, address, phone number, and email address.
How does Hertlease protect your personal data?
During the quote process and within your customer account, your personal data is transmitted securely over the internet using SSL protocol (Secure Sockets Layer, key exchange: RSA 1024 bit; encryption of user data: Triple DES 1024 bit). You can recognize a secure connection by the way the browser address is displayed—it starts with "https://..." instead of "http://..." and a padlock appears at the bottom right of the window. We secure our website and systems with technical and organizational measures to prevent loss, irreversible damage, access, modification, or dissemination of your data by unauthorized persons.
Access to your customer account is only possible after entering your personal password. You must always keep your access codes confidential and close the browser window or mobile applications after ending your session with us, especially if you share the device with others.
When does Hertlease use or process personal data?
We understand it is important for you to know that your personal data is handled carefully. As data protection is a high priority for Hertlease, we strictly comply with the legal provisions of the IEC17020 standard and GDPR guidelines when collecting, processing, and using data. In principle, you can use our website and mobile applications without providing any personal data.
Your personal data and the information you provide to us are used by Hertlease for order processing, service delivery, and payment processing. Except for service providers working for us, we do not share your data with third parties. We also need your data to inform you about your orders, services, and offers from Hertlease.
With regard to confidentiality under IEC 17020, all necessary data protection measures have already been taken and are described in Chapter 1 of our general terms and conditions. Data will never be made public unless explicitly consented. If we are required by law or authorized by contractual obligations to disclose confidential data, we will inform the client unless prohibited by law.
Hertlease and cookies
Our websites and mobile sites use cookies to enhance your online experience. By using our website and agreeing to the applicable policy, you consent to our use of cookies in accordance with the provisions of this policy.
What is a cookie, and how are cookies used on the Hertlease website?
A cookie is a file containing data (a string of letters and numbers); this file is sent from a web server to a web browser when you visit a website and is then stored by the browser. The respective ID is then sent back whenever the browser requests a page from the server.
Cookies do not contain any data that personally identifies you. However, it is possible that we may link the personal data we store about you with the data stored in and obtained from cookies.
We use the information obtained from cookies for the following purposes:
If you add items to your order form but decide not to complete the purchase during your visit, we store the reference number of the order form in a cookie to improve usability, allowing you to retrieve the form during your next visit.
Is it safe to enable cookies?
Yes. Cookies are just short strings of data that cannot perform any operations on their own. We recommend that you allow your web browser to accept cookies from our website.
How can I adjust my cookie settings?
To enable cookies, follow the instructions below for your specific browser:
Blocking cookies
Most browsers allow you to block cookies. For example:
Blocking all cookies will, however, negatively affect the usability of many websites.
Deleting cookies
You can also delete cookies that are already stored on your computer:
This website uses re-targeting technology to collect and store anonymized information about visitor browsing behavior. These data are saved on your computer in text files known as "cookies". An algorithm analyzes this data and may display targeted product recommendations or interest-based ads on other websites (also known as publishers). These data are never used to personally identify visitors. The collected data are only used to improve the service and are not sold or shared with third parties.
Embedding social media plugins
Our website uses social media plugins from Facebook, Google, etc. You may see buttons such as “+1,” “f,” or “thumbs up.” These are services provided by the US companies Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) and Facebook Inc. (1601 S California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94394 USA).
Only when you click one of these buttons does your browser create a direct connection to the servers of Facebook or Google. The content of the button is then transmitted directly to your browser and embedded into the website. We have no control over the amount of data Google or Facebook collects using these buttons.
Facebook and Google provide detailed information on their websites about the scope, type, purpose, and further processing of your data and your privacy rights:
To prevent Facebook and Google from collecting data about you during your visit to our website, log out of your social media accounts and delete the corresponding cookies beforehand.
Spam/DDOS protection
To protect against spam and DDOS attacks, our website uses Google reCAPTCHA. This service analyzes your behavior on the website, your computer configuration (including any previously installed Google cookies), and your IP address to determine whether you are a real or malicious user. If suspicious activity is detected, you may be asked to verify that you are not a robot before completing specific tasks, such as submitting a form.
This information is exchanged directly between your device and Google's servers in Europe and the United States. We have no control over the scope of data collected or how it is later used.
Google reCAPTCHA is a service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. For more information about data usage and privacy, visit the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service.
